Abstract:

As the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is not only an important manifestation of the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan”, but also an important opportunity to promote and deepen the cooperation in higher education between the two countries. With the goal of adapting to the sustainable development of the construction of the CPEC, China-Pakistan higher education cooperation has achieved positive results in helping economic transformation and development, promoting people-to-people bonds, providing talent and intellectual support, and building academic research platforms. However, against the BRI education action targets, China-Pakistan cooperation in higher education has still existed many urgent problems to be solved in terms of internal and external environment, key actors, cooperation in running schools and language connectivity. Therefore, China-Pakistan cooperation in higher education should actively seek solutions from the aspects of increasing educational opening-up, promoting multi-actors cooperation, strengthening cooperation in running school projects and accelerating the training of language talents.
