Abstract:

As a major national education reform project in the new era,the integration of vocational and general education is crucial for building a modern vocational education system and a crucial task in accelerating the development of a leading nation in education. The strategy of building a leading nation in education requires the systematic integration of vocational and general education concepts and elements, which involves achieving deep integration across all educational elements horizontally and seamless communication across all stages of education vertically, cultivating high-quality technical and skilled personnel who meet the needs of economic and social development in the new era. Currently,China has established a pattern of connected cultivation within the modern vocational education system. However, the integration of vocational and general education still faces practical challenges, including cognitive biases that hinder equal advancement, utilitarian values that lead to alienated practices, and a lack of mechanisms that hinder the dynamics of two-way integration. Fundamentally,it is necessary to open up channels for learners to flow between the two types of education. Therefore,it is recommended to adhere to the specific definition of vocational education, fully leverage the high-quality resources of basic and higher education, and accelerate the integration of vocational and general education through the overall design of a system for the integration of vocational and general education, the development of vocational courses for general education students, and the development of comprehensive high schools tailored to local conditions.
