An Empirical Analysis of the Influence of New Media Information Quality on Adolescents’ Public Awareness

Abstract:

Public awareness, as a deep willingness and psychological tendency of individuals to recognize and obey public ethics in public life, is a necessary moral quality of modern citizens. Adolescence is a critical period for the generation of one’s public awareness, and the era of new media is the realistic environment for the growth of adolescents, and new media information is a direct affecting source of adolescents’ public awareness. This paper uses structural equation model to analyze the influence of new media information quality and public communication on the generation of adolescents’ public consciousness. The results show that information quality has a significant positive predictive effect on public awareness. Public communication produces mediating effect between information quality and sense of rules and fairness. In the new media era,cultivating adolescents’ public awareness should focus on building a “benign” public order, strengthening the construction of public culture “towards the good”, and building a public communication platform “towards the good”, so as to highlight the public life with good order characteristics to cultivate adolescents’ public awareness.
