Beyond Teacher-Training and Back to Education: Reflections on the Orientation of Undergraduate Education Majors

Abstract:

On the basis of combing the changes in the situation faced by the undergraduate major of education in the past 20 years, this paper focuses on the analysis of three mainstream views on the construction of undergraduate education, and believes that the construction ideas of “discussing majors based on employment”,“discussing majors based on undergraduate” and “discussing majors based on teacher-training” can not fundamentally solve the key problems faced by the long-term development of undergraduate education major, and emphasizes that based on the conditions of the times of the popularization of higher education and the rapid development of graduate education, we should get rid of the limitations of the original understanding, go beyond “teacher-training” and return to education. From the perspective of constructing the education talent training system, the undergraduate major of education is re-established as a basic major.
