Implementation Situation and Reflection on Online Teaching in “Double First-Class” Universities

Abstract:

The sudden outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has delayed the start of colleges and universities across the country. Under the initiative of the Ministry of Education to “suspend classes but not teaching or studying”, the online teaching has become the main method of teaching in universities, developing in extremely large scale. This large-scale online teaching is a “serious test” for China’s education informatization construction of the past two decades. Through the questionnaire survey of Xiamen University, taking point to bring the whole to sort out the present implementation situation of online teaching in “Double First-Class” universities, analyze the main problems existing, and summarize the experience, which has important practical significance for further strengthening the construction of information technology and improving the quality of higher education in China. Reflecting on online teaching in “Double First-Class” universities, a stable and efficient online teaching platform should be constructed, online course planning and teaching design should be strengthened, college students’ information literacy should be enhanced, and students’ autonomous learning ability should be cultivated.
