Towards Disciplinary Philosophy: Disciplinary Education Enlightenment from Philosophy for Children

Abstract:

The subject teaching in modern schools has caused some problems such as subject discipline,academic pressure and learning anxiety, which results in the dilemma of cultivating students through subject teaching. This reflects the compulsion of the problem of “how to cultivate freedom in coercion”put forward by Kant, and the further problem is how subject teaching can realize the cultivation of children’s liberty spirit and democratic character. This is the problem in subject education. Philosophy for Children advocates suspended authority in the idea about children,epistemology and teacher-student relationship, hoping to cultivate children’s personality in an atmosphere of free thinking, so as to make up for the shortcomings of subject teaching and break through the predicament of subject education. The fusion point of Philosophy for Children and subject teaching is subject philosophy. Towards the subject teaching of subject philosophy means using the philosophical resources of subject content, the philosophical thinking mode of subject perspective and the integration between subjects to achieve the goal of educating people. The practical path of subject teaching towards subject philosophy is to emphasize the thinking, pay attention to the learning process, and emphasis on subject history.
