The lack of practice of children’s music sense education in China includes overemphasizing the learning and training of musical knowledge and skills, impairing children’s interest in music learning; serious utilitarian tendency of educational motivation, ignoring the aesthetic function of music education; ignoring children’s music learning process. James L. Mursell and Bennett Reimer were valued the music sense in children’s physical and mental development, emphasized the significance of the universality of music sense, as well as the influence of internal motivation and external environment to the development of children’s music sense. There were also many differences in their education thoughts, especially on the aspects of theoretical foundation, interpreting angle, the nature and training methods. Meanwhile, their education thoughts about music sense emphasize differently and complement each other. The improvement path of children’s music sense education in China includes protecting and stimulating children’s interest in learning music, correcting the utilitarian practical tendency of children’s music education, exploring more appropriate music education for children, and providing more opportunities for children to experience music through physical reactions.
