Abstract:

To investigate the influence of protagonist’s “do something others could not do” in red stories on college students’ narrative transmission, two red stories with a certain degree of fictional processing and Simple Narrative Transportation Scale were selected as experimental materials to conduct experiments on a total of 544 college students. The research found that: in red stories, the protagonist’s social status has a significant impact on college students’ narrative transmission; the protagonist’s difficulty in completing the deeds has a significant impact on college students’ narrative transmission; there is a significant interaction between the protagonist’s social status and the difficulty of completing the deeds in college students’ narrative transmission; and college students’ admiration for the protagonist plays a partial mediating role between the protagonist’s performance of “do something others could not do” and the degree of narrative transmission. Research has proven that the deeds of ordinary people and ordinary people in red stories are more likely to influence and infect college students, and the more difficult the hero's deeds are to complete, the stronger the influence and appeal. This provides a valuable reference for optimizing the selection of red stories and enhancing the educational character of red stories in the process of ideological and political education in universities.
