Abstract:

Building an autonomous knowledge system for textbook studies in China is key to implementing the national authority over textbook construction and highlighting the academic sovereignty of textbook research. Based on an analysis of local textbook practices, this study demonstrates that the system possesses the following characteristics: local originality rooted in theoretical foundations, a balance of continuity and creativity in cultural heritage, a clear value orientation, an autonomous paradigm of knowledge production, an integrated system structure, and a practical attribute that unites national strategy with a commitment to the people. Its formation is driven by multiple factors: the fundamental goal is moral education, with endogenous forces stemming from the discipline's development consciousness and the need for systematization; the cultural mission carries the responsibility of civilization inheritance and security maintenance; national strategy requires adaptation to development needs and the exercise of the national authority over textbook construction; and global competition drives participation in knowledge governance and paradigm innovation. To achieve this, it is necessary to solidify the theoretical foundation of textbook studies, innovate the textbook compilation paradigm, improve the academic transformation mechanism for local textbook practices, and build a specialized talent pipeline, so as to establish an autonomous knowledge system for textbook studies with Chinese characteristics and academic integrity.
