Abstract:

How teachers use textbooks in the course of teaching directly affects the efficiency and quality of classroom teaching. Teachers’use of textbooks can be analyzed in terms of their attitude, preparation, classroom implementation, and reflection. The study found that teachers acknowledge the importance of textbooks, and their usage orientation shows a trend of diversification;teaching concept influences teachers’s use of textbooks in instructional design;the “student-centered” philosophy determines how teachers use textbooks in classroom teaching;and professional training empowers teachers to reflect on their use of textbooks. Teachers’use of textbooks is influenced by factors such as their textbook literacy, students’developmental needs, and the content quality of the textbooks. To improve the quality of teachers’use of textbooks,it is recommended to understand teachers’diverse orientations towards textbook use, enhance the teaching nature of textbooks, and strengthen specialized training on textbook usage.
