Abstract:

As a specific practical activity of human society, not only focuses on how to cultivate man’s morality, but also on how to make a man become a man through education. Aristotle laid the foundation of practical philosophy on which Kant and Herbart formed a new practical philosophy and practical education. Different ideas of practical philosophy determine the types of practical education. Kant’s“ideal plan”for practical education and Herbart’s“scientific design”for education are regarded as two different logics, resulting in the opposition between“ideal education”and“scientific education”. If the practical philosophy and practical education thoughts of Kant and Herbart are comprehensively combed,we will find that they are only formally opposed, but in fact they have internal consistency on the way to make people become moral people. In particular, the attention to freedom and individuality in their educational thoughts is still of enlightening significance to current education and teaching.
