Re-Interpretation of the “General” and “Knowledge” of General Education

Abstract:

General education is an internationally recognized issue, and the general education practiced in China is still facing the development dilemma caused by the vague understanding of “general” and “knowledge”. In the new era, general education must take root in China’s profound cultural tradition, respond to the demands of the times, cultivate new people of the times with the idea of “shaping the whole person”, strengthen “stage penetration”, “cultural connectivity” and “vision integration”, base on interdisciplinary extensive and basic knowledge, focus on humanistic and scientific knowledge, and aim at shaping the general literacy of “people” through knowledge learning, to promote the transformation of general education from concept to practice.
