Teachers’ Professional Quality: Connotation, Composition and Improving Path

Abstract:

Teachers’ professional quality is the sum of all kinds of psychological qualities which is gradually developed through various acquired ways such as nurturing,education and practice on the basis of congenital conditions. It has a significant impact on teachers’ educational and teaching activities and meets the requirements of the times for teachers. It has the characteristics of professionalism,dominance and development. Grounded analysis on 2167 data shows that connotation of teachers’ professional quality includes four first-level dimensions:teacher knowledge,teacher competence,teacher character and teacher belief,and twelve second-level dimensions. After analyzing and comparing the five commonly used evaluation methods of teachers’ professional quality,this paper puts forward several ways to develop teachers’ professional quality,including establishing effective mechanism to enhance teachers’ professional value,establishing the teacher education system which focuses on the development of teachers’ professional quality and build up teachers’ self-reflection capacity in practice.
