Abstract:

The digital transformation of education has brought unprecedented educational experiences to both teachers and students, while also placing higher demands on university teachers. Based on Actor-Network Theory, this study took Teacher C as the research subject and employed a case study approach. Through an analysis of Teacher C’s teaching context and teaching stories,it was found that, with the transformation of education digitization, the roles of university teachers have undergone a shift. University teachers have changed from being faithful explainers of textbooks to innovators of curriculum at the level of curriculum, from collective lecturers to personalized guides at the level of teaching;from transmitters of knowledge to communicators of the mind and spirit at the level of cultivating talents;and from “human-machine separation” educators to “human-machine integration” collaborators at the level of teachers themselves. To promote the role transformation of university teachers in the era of education digitization, improve the teaching quality of higher education, and cultivate high-quality talents in society, university teachers should change their mindset, improve their digital literacy, adhere to human-machine collaborative co-education,innovate digital teaching designs, and firmly grasp the human-centered educational philosophy, while reconstructing a symbiotic teacher-student relationship.
