Abstract:

Pubic cyberspace, constructed through modern information technology, is a new type of public space that provides the public with enhanced communication media and expands the public nature of traditional public spaces. However, cyberspace also brings new potential crises to public space, manifested in aspects such as the exacerbation of the digital divide, tendencies toward pan-entertainment, the repeated cycle of the spiral of silence, the emergence of group polarization, and concerns about moral disorder, all of which affect the public nature of cyberspace. Therefore, the dual attributes of cyberspace, both reconstructive and deconstructive to traditional public space, call for public awareness education in cyberspace. Specifically, there is a need for positive public space awareness education, focusing on the education of awareness regarding digital rights, public participation, and public rationality in cyberspace. This can be achieved through specific strategies such as actively promoting the establishment of cyber conventions, appropriately setting up cyber public discussion platforms, and reasonably guiding public topics in cyberspace to implement public awareness education in cyberspace.
