The Effectiveness of Discipline Evaluation System: Connotation Characteristics and Theoretical Framework

Abstract:

The “effectiveness of discipline evaluation system” refers to the state or degree that discipline evaluation system is recognized and accepted by relevant stakeholders,followed and implemented,so as to realize the value goal of discipline evaluation system. The effectiveness of discipline evaluation system can be divided into two dimensions:the rationality of the system itself and the implementation effect of the system. The judgment of the rationality of the discipline evaluation system itself and the actual implementation effect should be combined with the realistic background of the modern university system and higher education reform,and in accordance with the new requirements of governance modernization on the evaluation system and its reform,as well as the“ideal”function orientation of the subject evaluation system as the concern. The effectiveness of discipline evaluation system has the basic attributes of relativity,systematicness,development and controllability. The effectiveness of the discipline evaluation system will be affected by both the internal factors such as the source and fairness of the discipline evaluation system,and the external factors such as the fit between the discipline evaluation system and its environment,and the stakeholders’cognition,understanding and compliance with the discipline evaluation system.
