Abstract:
Characteristic development is the common goal pursued by urban and rural schools in China since the 21st century. On the basis of comprehensive development, rural schools should form their characteristics through cohesion, strengthening and highlighting their individuality and advantages to show their positive development vitality. The characteristic development of rural schools is of great significance for giving full play to teachers’ and students’ subjectivity, inspiring their self-confidence and modern vitality to improve the quality of education and teaching; for inheriting and carrying forward the traditional virtue, revolutionary culture and red gene of Chinese nation; for fully developing the personality of teachers and students, so as to activate their cultural life and to improve their quality; for exercising teachers’ and students’ bodies and enhance their physique; for consolidating, strengthening and highlighting the school culture, school motto, school spirit and school atmosphere; and for closing the relationship between school and village culture.To persist in characteristic development, we should clearly understand the essence of school characteristics, and to clarify the relationship between school characteristic development and overall development, between school characteristic development and students’ free development, as well as between school characteristic development and quality education. And in the development process of school characteristics, we should use scientific and reasonable ways and means, and identify the type of school characteristics, and pay attention to small-scale rural schools and teaching points.
